The air cycle
Six steps. One continuous cycle. Every room, every hour.

BRAVO operates as a balanced dual-stream ventilation system. Two separate air streams — stale indoor air going out, fresh outdoor air coming in — pass through the heat-exchange core simultaneously. Energy transfers across without mixing. Then incoming air goes through Master Air before entering your home.

1
Stale air is extracted
Stale indoor air is drawn from living zones — bedrooms, living rooms, home offices — through the exhaust duct network connected to BRAVO.
2
Fresh outdoor air is drawn in
Simultaneously, fresh outdoor air is pulled into the BRAVO unit through the outdoor intake duct. Both streams are active at the same time.
3
Energy transfers through the core — without mixing
Both air streams pass through separate channels in the total heat-exchange core. Temperature and moisture transfer across the membrane. The two air streams never make direct contact. BRAVO 250 uses 1 core; BRAVO 500 uses 3 cores for higher volume at the same standard.
4
Master Air treats the incoming air
Pre-conditioned incoming air enters the Master Air treatment stage. 99.6% single-pass purification. 99.99% virus inactivation. 80% lower resistance than HEPA — so airflow is not sacrificed for treatment.
5
Treated air is distributed into the project
Purified, tempered fresh air is supplied into living zones through ceiling diffusers. No raw outdoor air. No direct heat gain. Just consistently clean, moderated air.
6
Exhaust air exits the building
Having transferred its energy to the incoming stream, stale indoor air exits through the outdoor exhaust duct. The cycle repeats, continuously, at low noise in the background.
Why 80% lower resistance than HEPA matters

A high-resistance treatment element creates backpressure that reduces airflow, forces the fan to work harder, and raises noise output. Master Air's low-resistance design allows BRAVO to maintain strong airflow at lower energy consumption and lower noise — without trading air quality to achieve it. In a ducted system, total system resistance directly affects delivered airflow in every room.

Treatment path
What happens to every cubic metre of incoming air
Stage Function Why it matters
Heat-exchange core Transfers temperature and humidity from outgoing indoor air to incoming outdoor air Reduces AC load; incoming air arrives in a moderated state, not as raw outdoor air
Master Air — purification stage 99.6% single-pass purification; 99.99% virus inactivation Measurably higher treatment than HEPA — addresses what filtration alone cannot
Low-resistance design 80% lower resistance than HEPA-based approaches Preserves airflow performance and keeps noise low — no trade-off between treatment and delivery
Long-life filter (15+ yr design) 6 kg+ dust-holding capacity; <0.005 mg/m³ ozone emission Lower maintenance frequency; safe for real indoor environments in all climates
Humidity resilience >95% efficiency at 90% relative humidity Performance holds up in demanding climates — not just controlled lab conditions
Total heat exchange vs. sensible heat exchange

Sensible-only systems transfer temperature but not humidity. BRAVO uses a total (enthalpy) exchange core — which transfers both. In humid climates, incoming outdoor air carries significant moisture load. By recovering humidity as well as temperature, BRAVO reduces the latent heat gain entering the conditioned space — lowering the dehumidification burden on the AC and improving overall comfort.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about BRAVO.
Dwell BRAVO is an energy recovery ventilation (ERV) system combined with Master Air Technology. A regular fresh-air inlet simply pushes raw outdoor air into a conditioned space — making the AC compensate for the full temperature and humidity load. BRAVO recovers energy through a heat-exchange core so incoming air arrives pre-conditioned, then treats it through a system positioned around 99.6% single-pass purification and 99.99% virus inactivation. The result is a system that improves indoor air quality without the comfort or energy penalty of ordinary fresh-air introduction.
Master Air is an advanced air-treatment system integrated into BRAVO's incoming air path. Key performance figures: 99.6% single-pass purification, 99.99% virus inactivation, 80% lower resistance than HEPA, 6 kg+ dust-holding capacity, 15+ year filter design life, <0.005 mg/m³ ozone emission, and >95% efficiency at 90% relative humidity. Full technical detail is at masterair.dwellventilation.com.
Less than any alternative would. BRAVO uses a total heat-exchange core that transfers both temperature and moisture from outgoing indoor air to incoming outdoor air — before that air enters your home. Incoming air arrives in a more moderated state instead of as raw outdoor air, reducing the thermal and humidity load the AC needs to compensate for. In contrast, opening a window or using a basic fresh-air inlet forces the AC to handle the full outdoor condition.
In a ducted system, treatment resistance translates directly into reduced delivered airflow, higher fan load, and increased noise. A high-resistance HEPA element at the end of the air path can significantly reduce the volume of air actually reaching your rooms — even if the unit's rated airflow looks adequate on paper. Master Air's low-resistance design means BRAVO delivers its rated airflow at lower energy consumption and lower noise, without compromising on purification. You don't have to trade one for the other.
The BRAVO 250 handles 250 m³/h of supply and exhaust airflow — suited to 1–2 room ventilation zones, such as a master suite, premium hotel room, or home office. The BRAVO 500 handles 450 m³/h and is suited to full-apartment or villa-wing ventilation strategies. Sizing should be based on the total fresh-air volume requirement of your project — typically calculated from room volume, occupancy, and required air change rate. Contact Dwell Air for a proper sizing recommendation based on your floor plan.
No. BRAVO is designed for complete concealment within the false-ceiling void. The unit sits above the ceiling, connected to an insulated duct network. Fresh air is delivered through standard ceiling diffusers; stale air is extracted through ceiling grilles. No part of the BRAVO unit itself is visible in the finished room.
Yes. BRAVO uses a total (enthalpy) exchange core that transfers both temperature and humidity — not just temperature. In humid climates, incoming outdoor air carries significant moisture load. By recovering humidity as well as temperature from outgoing air, BRAVO reduces the latent heat gain entering the conditioned space, lowering the dehumidification burden on the AC. Master Air is also rated for >95% efficiency at 90% relative humidity — designed for real conditions, not just lab environments.
Master Air is designed for 15+ years of effective life — significantly longer than conventional HEPA or carbon filters that require replacement every 6–18 months. The BRAVO 250 contains 1 heat-exchange core and 1 Master Air unit; the BRAVO 500 contains 3 heat-exchange cores and 2 Master Air units. Regular inspection of these components is recommended. Contact Dwell Air for a recommended maintenance schedule tailored to your installation and local air quality conditions.
Yes. BRAVO is a ducted ERV system that requires duct design, proper insulation, slope planning for outdoor connections, and installation by qualified HVAC personnel. Performance is directly affected by duct layout, bend count, and outlet placement. Dwell Air provides installation guidance, duct routing support, and access panel sizing recommendations as part of the project consultation process.
Yes, it is safe. Master Air is positioned around an ozone emission below 0.005 mg/m³ — well within indoor air quality safety thresholds. Elevated ozone output is a known concern with some purification technologies such as certain UV and plasma systems. Master Air's low-ozone design directly addresses this for real indoor environments.
